NORDVIK Impact Crusher PN Series

NORDVIK Impact Crusher PN Series

High reduction impact crushing for aggregates

The NORDVIK PN series horizontal shaft impact crusher combines a massive rotor with a large feed opening to achieve reduction ratios no cone can match — primary models accept 900 – 1,500 mm boulders, while secondary and tertiary models shape product down to sand sizes. Eight sizes cover primary, secondary and tertiary duty with installed power from 160 to 1,200 kW.

How it works

Working Principle

Material entering the PN impactor is struck by the blow bars of the fast-spinning rotor and hurled against the adjustable impact aprons, breaking along its natural fissures. Particles ricochet between rotor and aprons until small enough to pass the set gap. Because breakage is by impact rather than compression, the PN delivers very high reduction ratios and an excellent cubical product shape in a single stage.

Applications

Applications

Aggregate production

Cubical road base, concrete and asphalt aggregates from limestone, gravel and medium-hard rock.

Primary crushing of soft rock

PN primary models take 900 – 1,500 mm quarry-run feed in limestone and similar materials.

Recycling

Concrete and asphalt recycling with excellent liberation of reinforcing steel.

Cement industry

Limestone and raw mix preparation crushing ahead of raw mills.

Sand manufacturing

Tertiary PN models produce fine, well-shaped sand feedstock.

Materials

Limestone, dolomite, gypsum, river gravel, concrete and asphalt rubble, and medium-hard, low-abrasion rocks. For highly abrasive hard rock, a cone crusher is recommended.

Blow Bar & Liner Options

Hydraulic Opening & Adjustment

The PN frame opens hydraulically, exposing the complete rotor and liner set for inspection, blow bar rotation and replacement — service that once took days now fits a single shift.

Apron gaps are set hydraulically from the control panel, with automatic overload relief that protects the rotor and aprons when uncrushable material passes.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I choose an impactor instead of a cone crusher?
Choose the PN for limestone and other soft to medium-hard, low-abrasion materials where product shape matters. For abrasive granite or basalt, a cone crusher's wear costs are lower.
What is the largest feed the PN accepts?
The PN2023 primary model accepts 1,500 mm feed directly from the quarry face, often eliminating a secondary jaw stage.
How are blow bars changed?
The frame opens hydraulically, giving full rotor access; bars are turned or replaced with standard lifting tools, typically within one shift.
Which blow bar material should I select?
Martensitic steel for general duty with impact load, high-chromium iron for abrasive gravel, ceramic-insert bars for maximum life in highly abrasive feed.
How is product size controlled?
The impact aprons adjust hydraulically to set the gap; the automation option tracks power and keeps the gap at its target.
